Tom Hazelton

Tom Hazelton is a seasoned software engineer and manager with extensive experience in mobile application development, particularly for Android. Currently serving as a Senior Android Software Engineer on the checkout team at Airbnb since August 2021, Tom focuses on optimizing the booking flow for users. Prior to this role, Tom transitioned from engineering to management as an Engineering Manager for the Trust Experience team, overseeing a diverse group of engineers. Earlier roles include positions at YouTube, where Tom contributed to the YouTube Shorts Android client, and Google, working on various projects including Material Design and Google Fit. Tom also has startup experience, having been an early employee at Sense Tecnic Systems, focused on gamification and IoT, and developed accessibility features for older adults at ikamobile Limited. Tom holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from The University of British Columbia, a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Queen's University, and a Diploma in East Asian Studies from Renison University College.
