Wael Mahmoud

Wael Mahmoud is an experienced technology professional with a strong focus on machine learning and software engineering. Wael served as a Senior Staff ML Lead at Airbnb from May 2019 to March 2021 and previously held the position of Staff ML Lead at Facebook, where contributions were made to applied machine learning initiatives and product features like News Feed Personalization and Messenger Ranking from June 2016 to May 2019. Prior to that, Wael worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Box, emphasizing storage and backend infrastructure, and also mentored at Hackbright Academy. Wael's career began at Microsoft as an SDE 2 on the Windows Azure Storage team from December 2011 to March 2015. Wael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Cairo University, completed in January 2011.
