Mark Piatkowski has a diverse work experience spanning different industries.

Mark started their career as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Biocomplexity Institute of Virginia Tech, where they isolated mRNA and characterized genomic data for gene expression analysis.

Mark then moved on to work as a Visiting Researcher at Southern Illinois University, utilizing integrative microscopy to study the development of fern species and propagating plants from spores in axenic culture.

Mark also gained experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at Virginia Tech, where they conducted tissue engineering studies for limb regeneration using mice as a model organism and developed a fully automated UV imaging kiosk for outdoor theme parks.

Mark briefly worked as an Independent Engineering Consultant at Frye Roofing, Inc. before joining Aireon LLC, where they held various roles. As an Associate Systems Engineer, they championed the rewriting of system and subsystem requirements, led drafting sessions, and conducted implementation site acceptance tests. Later, as a Systems Engineer, they completed the facility transition of Aireon's Network Operations Center ahead of schedule and managed the continuity of service desk operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. In their most recent role as a Senior Test Engineer, Mark served as Aireon's technical representative and oversaw engineering efforts for international standards development, as well as leading Factory Acceptance Testing of Aireon's software.

Mark Piatkowski holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biological/Biosystems Engineering, which they obtained from Virginia Tech from 2012 to 2016. Mark furthered their education by pursuing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Systems Engineering at The George Washington University from 2021 to 2023. In addition to their formal education, Mark has obtained several certifications. In July 2018, they completed the MATLAB Fundamentals certification from MathWorks. In January 2020, they obtained the Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) certification from INCOSE. Moreover, in January 2022, Mark achieved the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
