Umesh B Muniyappa has held several positions in the tech industry since 1992. Umesh B began their career as a System Analyst at Tata Consultancy Services in 1992. In 1996, they became a Software Engineer at Novell Inc., where they designed VPN and Novell's Cryptographic Interface and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). In 2000, they moved to Maple Optical Systems, Inc. as a Software Engineer and led the integration of hardware and routing software on an MS3200. In 2003, they joined Procket Networks, Inc. as a Software Engineer and optimized and ensured the scalability of counters and statistics for a high-end router. In 2004, they became VP Engineering, Security Products at Juniper Networks Inc., where they managed a global organization and revitalized the Security Products and Engineering team. In 2017, they moved to Netskope Software India Pvt Ltd as a Sr Director. In 2020, they joined Fungible India Pvt Ltd as a Sr Director, and in 2022 they became VP of Engineering at Airgap Networks Inc.

Umesh B Muniyappa obtained a BE in Electronics from RV College Of Engineering between 1986 and 1990. Umesh B then went on to pursue an MTech in Telecommunication Systems Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur between 1990 and 1992. Additionally, they have obtained certifications from the University of Alberta on Coursera in Software Processes and Agile Practices in July 2017, from the EC-Council in Certified Ethical Hacker (CEHv9) in June 2017, and from Stanford University in Machine Learning.
