Vassilis Kalofolias

Vassilis Kalofolias has a diverse and extensive work experience. Vassilis is currently working at Logitech as a Data Science Manager, starting in June 2022. Prior to this, they co-founded AIRICA in 2020 and held the roles of Chief Data Officer and Co-Founder. In these roles, they developed and led a team for air quality sensing analytics models, designed custom client reports, and implemented the company's first cloud architecture.

Before that, Vassilis Kalofolias worked at LeanBI from 2018 to 2022. Vassilis served as a Lead Data Scientist, where they advised on system and data architecture, focused on predictive maintenance and indoor air quality projects. Vassilis also worked as a Senior Data Scientist, helping clients solve data-related problems in areas such as predictive maintenance and computer vision for industrial applications.

In 2017, Vassilis Kalofolias co-founded Largo, a startup in the film industry that utilized data science services. In this role, they were involved in various business aspects such as planning, market analysis, financial modeling, marketing, business development, and fundraising.

Vassilis Kalofolias began their professional career at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in 2011, where they worked as a Doctoral Researcher. Their research focused on machine learning and modeling, with an emphasis on graphs, numerical optimization, and probabilistic (Bayesian) machine learning. Vassilis published and presented their work in top machine learning conferences.

Throughout their career, Vassilis Kalofolias has demonstrated a strong expertise in data science, machine learning, and technical project management.

Vassilis Kalofolias completed their education with a 5-year Diploma in Computer engineering and informatics from the University of Patras, which took place from 2004 to 2010. Vassilis then pursued a higher degree at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Machine Learning. This academic journey spanned from 2011 to 2016.
