Sergio Mendoza Corominas, PhD, has a diverse range of work experience spanning several industries and roles. Sergio co-founded Airnguru in 2015 and served as the CEO, focused on developing solutions for airlines. In 2020, they joined PRICINGURU as a Senior Advisor.
Prior to that, Mendoza Corominas was a co-founder and executive director at Inzpiral, a company builder that created several SaaS startups in industries such as retail, CPG, logistics, and travel.
Sergio also had a long tenure at LATAM Airlines, starting in 2003. Sergio held positions such as Senior VP Commercial Platforms & Best Practices, Chief Commercial Innovation Officer, and VP Distribution and Revenue Management. In these roles, they led various initiatives in revenue management, commercial systems, operations planning, and distribution.
Before LATAM Airlines, Mendoza Corominas worked at D&S (now Walmart) as the Director of Business Research & Investor Relations and CIO of the Supermarket Division. Sergio was responsible for presenting financials and strategic plans to investors, as well as leading IT initiatives and innovations.
Earlier in their career, Mendoza Corominas held positions at Forus S.A. as COO and CIO, where they focused on upgrading logistics processes, systems, and infrastructure, and at Dragon Systems (now Nuance Communications) as a Research Scientist, where they implemented speech recognition systems.
Sergio began their career at Unisys, where they worked as an R&D engineer, developing solutions for scanning, digitization, and storage of signatures, as well as an expert system for signature verification.
Sergio Mendoza Corominas, PhD, has an extensive education history. Sergio began their academic journey in 1981 at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Sergio successfully completed the program in 1986. During these years, they developed a strong foundation in industrial-electrical engineering.
Following their Bachelor's Degree, Sergio continued their studies at the same institution, earning a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from 1986 to 1988. This program allowed him to further specialize in their field and gain additional knowledge and expertise.
Seeking even deeper knowledge and expertise in a different discipline, Sergio then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Theoretical Particle Physics from Stony Brook University. Sergio spent five years at the university, from 1989 to 1994, delving into the intricacies of this specific field.
