Belén Abad

Belén Abad has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Belén is currently working at Airpals Courier as the Head of Engineering, where they co-lead the product's tech stack strategy, oversees API developments, manages integrations with client platforms, optimizes the codebase for scalability, introduces serverless technology, improves workflows, and implements agile and lean methodologies.

Prior to their current role, Belén worked at alaU as a Software Developer from February 2017 to November 2020. In this role, they developed the e-learning platform for the largest educational community in Ecuador. Belén also supported the Product Owner in backlog prioritization, decomposed user stories into tasks, and estimated them.

Belén also gained experience as a Javascript Developer at Almendra, where they worked on the Credit Union Mobile Application Project from December 2018 to March 2019. Belén was responsible for developing a transactional mobile application for one of the biggest Credit Unions in Ecuador, using technologies like Javascript and React.

Additionally, Belén worked as a Web Software Developer at Almendra, contributing to the Universidad del Azuay Mobile Application Project from April 2018 to July 2018. Their main responsibility involved adding a background geolocation tracking feature to the mobile app and integrating it with a server-side platform using technologies like React Native, Redux, and Firebase.

Belén has also served as a mentor and judge in various programs, including the Hackatón StartUPS-EMOV and Hult Prize Universidad de Cuenca.

Their earlier work experience includes roles such as a Team Lead at Almendra from July 2012 to December 2016, where they led a team of developers; Development and Server Maintenance at Itreesoft from November 2011 to July 2012; Web Development at Dual dmw from January 2010 to November 2011; and participation in the academic excellence program of the Instituto Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural INPC, Ecuador from February 2011 to July 2011.

Belén Abad attended Universidad del Azuay from 2005 to 2010, where they pursued a degree in Ingeniería de Sistemas. No specific field of study was specified for the degree. In addition to their formal education, they obtained additional certifications in various fields. In September 2017, Belén completed a course on Neural Networks and Deep Learning offered by Coursera. Belén also obtained a certification in Introduction to Search Engine Optimization from Coursera in July 2018.
