Ashwini K served as the OSD to Shri Jaswant Singh, Leader of Opposition Party, Indian Parliament from March 2005 to August 2009. In this role, they prepared policy-related papers, briefs on political affairs, and assisted in the preparation for Legislative debates. Ashwini K also worked as an Additional Private Secretary to the Finance Minister, Government of India from April 2003 to June 2004, managing media interactions and coordinating press releases.

Ashwini's diverse background includes a coursemate role at the National Defence Academy from January 1976 to June 1979.

Ashwini K Channan obtained their MSc degree in Defence Studies from the University of Madras in 1993.
