Thomas Huckell has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries.

Starting in 2017, they worked as a Kayak Guide/Instructor at Deep Cove Kayak, where they taught paddling courses and led groups on tours through provincial parks. Thomas also instructed kids camps, focusing on instilling outdoor appreciation and environmental stewardship.

In 2017, they also worked as a Tutor at EngLinks, providing academic support for engineering students.

From 2017 to 2019, Thomas served as the Mechanical Engineering Manager at Queen's Mostly Autonomous Sailboat Team (QMAST), overseeing a team of engineers responsible for building autonomous sailboats. Thomas contributed to the construction of the sailboat by fabricating custom molds.

Starting in 2019, Thomas joined Queen's University as a Research Assistant at Ingenuity Labs, focusing on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Human Machine Interaction. Thomas'sresearch primarily involved modeling and controlling legged robots. Thomas also worked as a Teaching Assistant for mechatronics courses, teaching tutorials, running lab sessions, and grading assignments.

In 2023, Thomas began working as a Robotics Developer at A&K Robotics.

Thomas Huckell earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Applied Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University, which took place between 2015 and 2019. Following that, they pursued a Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University, which occurred from 2019 to 2021. In addition to their academic achievements, Thomas also obtained a Level 1 Sea Kayak Instructor certification from Paddle Canada in May 2017.
