Senior Robotics Software Engineer at A&K Robotics

Wesley Chan, PhD has extensive experience in the robotics and software engineering fields. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Robotics Software Engineer at A&K Robotics. Wesley also returned to The University of British Columbia as a Course Instructor, streamlining course material for scaling up the size of the course in future years. From 2019-2020, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher (Level B) at Monash University, leading multiple government and industry funded projects at an international scale and contributing to the development of the Monash Robotics Precinct ($7M AUD project). Wesley also served as a Tutorial Lecturer and Technical Session Speaker at the Australian Centre for Robotics Vision, spearheading the development of a new hands-on teaching approach using Jupyter Notebook. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at JDQ Systems and The University of British Columbia in 2019, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at Postmates in 2017. In 2016, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at The University of Tokyo, leading team JSK in competing at the Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC) and winning 5th place internationally in the Unmanned Ground Vehicle Challenge. In 2009, they were a Software Developer at BigPark, working on the frontend team developing video game user interfaces and responsible for the game selection and game flow features in the video game title Joy Ride.

Wesley Chan holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Information Science and Technology from The University of Tokyo, which they obtained in 2016. Wesley also holds a Master of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering from The University of British Columbia, which they obtained in 2012. Wesley's undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Engineering Physics with a Computer Science option from The University of British Columbia, which they obtained in 2010.
