Ian Relf has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Ian started their career as an Apprentice/Student Engineer at the Ministry of Defence in the United Kingdom in 1984. After that, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at DERA (now "QinetiQ") for almost a decade, gaining expertise in parallel discrete event simulations on parallel and distributed hardware.
In 1998, Ian joined Bell Labs/AT&T Labs as a Lead Developer, working on designing and delivering a highly scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed application server. This system was used by AT&T Business and Consumer services in New Jersey and California.
From 2001 to 2007, Ian served as a Lead Developer at HSBC Investment Bank, where they played a significant role in developing and leading a team. Ian then joined Nomura as a Senior Developer from 2007 to 2011.
Ian continued their career at Prudential Plc, where they worked as a Senior Analyst Programmer from 2011 to 2014. In this role, they contributed to various projects and demonstrated their ability to deliver results within demanding circumstances.
In 2015, Ian joined HSBC as a Senior Analyst Programmer, focusing on financial and regulatory compliance. Ian designed and built a generic data collection tool using QlikView and NPrinting, supported by an SQL database.
Ian moved on to Fitch Ratings in 2017, serving as a Senior Analyst Developer. Ian worked on several development projects and contributed to the team until early 2018.
Their most recent experience is at Aker Systems, where they hold the position of Tableau Developer & DevOps Engineer since 2018.
Ian Relf completed their BEng in Engineering Electronics from the University of Warwick between the years 1986 and 1989.
