Thomas G. Maira

Thomas G. Maira currently serves as Chair of Real Estate Private Equity at Akerman LLP, having joined the firm in October 2023. Previously, Maira was a Partner at DLA Piper from January 2017 to October 2023, where expert guidance was provided to real estate private equity groups and a diverse array of clients concerning real estate matters. Maira's notable representative matters include joint ventures on significant redevelopment projects, extensive portfolio restructurings, and high-profile transactions such as the World Trade Center master net lease. Maira has also held partner roles at Reed Smith LLP and served as General Counsel at Babcock & Brown, with earlier legal experience at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Maira holds a JD in Real Estate Law from St. John's University School of Law and a BBA in Real Estate from Pace University.
