David West

David West has extensive experience in the legal field, particularly within the biotech industry. David currently holds the position of Vice President Legal at Akero Therapeutics since September 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Biotech Executive Consultant from March 2023 to October 2023. From January 2020 to May 2023, they served as the Vice President - Corporate Law at Lyell Immunopharma. Before that, they were an Associate General Counsel - Strategic Transactions at Genentech from April 2003 to January 2020. David started their career as a Senior Associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati from November 1998 to April 2003, and before that, they worked as an Associate at Arnold White and Durkee from August 1996 to November 1998.

David West completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from San Jose State University from 1991 to 1993. David then obtained their JD degree in Intellectual Property from Stanford Law School from 1993 to 1996.
