Dr. Giaccia is co‐founder, Senior Scientific Strategist and Chairman of AKSO Biopharmaceutical Inc. He is currently serving as the Director of the Oxford Institute of Radiation Oncology in Oxford UK and the Jack, Lulu and Sam Wilson Professor Emeritus of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine. At Stanford, he held several leadership roles as the Director of the Division of Radiation and Cancer Biology, Associate Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Director of the Cancer Biology Graduate Program. Professor Giaccia is recognized as the leader in the fields of tumor microenvironment, hypoxia, and HIF-1-mediated pathways in cancer. As a founding member of AKSO Bio, Dr. Giaccia brings a wealth of experience both in biotech entrepreneurship and commercialization success. Dr. Giaccia has received numerous academic awards, including the ASTRO Gold Medal and National Cancer Institute Outstanding Investigator Award. He has also been elected into the National Academy of Medicine. Dr. Giaccia has co-authored over 260 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is the inventor of numerous patents.
