David Lai's work experience began in 2014 when they joined the National University of Singapore as an Adjunct Associate Professor. David then held multiple roles within the university, including Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and Director of Surgical Research and Development. In 2016, David became a Venture Partner at Venturecraft Group. In 2017, they co-founded Aktivolabs and became the Chief Scientific Officer, while also taking on the role of Co-Managing Partner at Camtech Ventures.
David Lai has a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS, First Class Honours with University Medal) from the University of Sydney. David also has a FRACS in Cardiothoracic Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a FRCS from both The Royal College of Surgeons of England and The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Additionally, they hold a FRACS in General Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. David Lai has also completed a Carl and Leah McConnell Cardiovascular Surgical Research Fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine, a Clinical Fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital, and a Clinical Fellowship at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine - Toronto General Hospital.
