Mostefa Souag is the Director General at Al Jazeera. Mostefa has been with the company since August 2016 and in their current role since September 2020.

Prior to their current role, they served as Digital Engagement Producer at Al Jazeera Media Network. In this role, they were responsible for managing the Al Jazeera English Facebook page, helping to grow the number of followers from 11 million to 12 million. Mostefa was also a strategizing member of the audience development team for social platforms, responsible for developing audience growth strategy for Facebook.

Mostefa has also worked with the Al Jazeera English Twitter team and is part of the 2019 rebranding for AJE Digital team. Mostefa is also a writer.

Mostefa Souag graduated from John Marshall High School and went on to study at the University of Minnesota, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts in public relations, advertising, and applied communication. Mostefa also holds certifications from the Al Jazeera Media Institute in mobile journalism and data journalism, as well as a certificate of participation from EduPristine in digital marketing. Finally, they have a certificate of recognition from the Al Jazeera Media Network.
