Dr. Michael Smith

Dr. Michael Smith started their work experience in 2001 as a clinical social worker specializing in adoption home studies. Dr. Michael then transitioned into a self-employed role, where they provided consulting services for nonprofits and social services organizations. In this role, they focused on organizational change and growth, program development, and developing operational capacity. Dr. Michael also worked as a freelance writer for entities that educate human services professionals. In 2006, Dr. Smith became the Chief Operations Officer at Alabama Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries.

Dr. Michael Smith holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from The University of Alabama. Dr. Michael also earned a Master of Social Work degree with a focus on Planning & Management from the same institution. In addition, Dr. Smith obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from The University of Alabama. Dr. Michael furthered their education by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Management/Organizational Leadership from Walden University. Dr. Smith has additional certifications including being a Private Independent Practitioner and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, both obtained from the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners in 2001.
