Karen Porter has extensive experience in the field of education, currently serving as the Program Coordinator for the Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) at the Alabama State Department of Education, where the focus is on enhancing K-12 reading instruction. In addition, Karen holds the position of Education Administrator in the Deputy State Superintendent of Education's Office, contributing to educational leadership since January 2013. Previous roles include Education Specialist and Administrator at the Alabama State Department of Education, as well as a Reading Coach and Teacher in Dallas County Schools, where planning professional development and intervention teaching were key responsibilities. Karen earned a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Alabama State University and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Auburn University at Montgomery.
