Kasun Buddika

Bioinformatics Engineer at Alamar Biosciences, Inc.

Kasun Buddika began their work experience in 2009 as a Public Relations Assistant at Upper Kotmale Hydropower Project. In 2015, they worked as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Colombo. From 2016 to 2021, they held multiple roles at Indiana University Bloomington, including Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant. At Indiana University, their research focused on molecularly identified and functionally characterized cytoplasmic messenger-ribonucleoprotein complexes in Drosophila intestinal stem cells. They also assisted with laboratory experiments and managed and evaluated student lab sections. In 2021, Kasun worked as a Probe Design Scientist at Advanced Cell Diagnostics. Currently, they hold the position of Bioinformatics Engineer at Alamar Biosciences, Inc., where they manage and administer Benchling, develop and implement data analytics ecosystems, and administer the Galaxy server for efficient analysis of complex biological data.

Kasun Buddika completed their education history as follows:

From 2015 to 2021, they attended Indiana University Bloomington and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Genome, Cell and Developmental Biology.

Prior to that, from 2010 to 2015, they studied at the University of Colombo and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Kasun'shigh school education was completed from 2007 to 2009 at Sumana Central College in Thalawakelle, Sri Lanka, where they earned a High School Diploma with a focus on Biology/Biological Sciences.

In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications. In February 2021, they completed a certification in "Learning GitHub" from LinkedIn. In January 2021, they obtained a certification in "Building Data Apps with R and Shiny: Essential Training" from LinkedIn. In November 2020, they completed certifications in "Managing Teams" and "Project Leadership", both from LinkedIn.
