Alex Ayala

Alex Ayala, MD MPH, serves as the Chief Medical Resident at Alameda Health System since May 2021, where responsibilities include managing resident schedules and advocating for resident concerns with leadership. As a Resident Physician, Alex collaborated with various departments to enhance palliative care services. Additionally, Alex holds the position of Scholar with the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, emphasizing diversity in hospice and palliative care careers. Currently an Emergency Medicine Physician at PACIFIC REDWOOD MEDICAL GROUP, INC., and previously served as Medical Director at Cardea Health, where a $250,000 grant facilitated community-based substance use disorder treatment. Alex's experience also includes a Health Policy Fellowship at the Western Center On Law and Poverty and serving as a Fulbright Scholar in Spain. Academic credentials include an MD and MPH from Northwestern University and a Bachelor's in Kinesiology from Occidental College.
