Mary Schutten

Mary Schutten currently serves as the Founding Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Lawrence Technological University since May 2024. Prior to this role, Mary held several positions at Central Michigan University, including Professor and Executive Vice President and Provost from July 2019 to January 2024. At San Jose State University, from June 2015 to January 2019, Mary acted as Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences, overseeing operations, policy setting, and community engagement across ten departments. Mary’s extensive academic experience includes positions as Associate Dean at Grand Valley State University and Professor at institutions such as Western Michigan University, Calvin College, and Dordt College. Mary has also participated in various leadership and professional development programs, earning multiple educational certificates and degrees, including a Doctor of Physical Education from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master's in Physical Education from California State University, Long Beach.
