Carmen Melendez-Lugo, CHI™, has a diverse work experience in the healthcare and education sectors. Carmen started their career in 2000 as a Bilingual Elementary School Teacher in various school districts, where they worked until 2010. In 2016, they transitioned to become a Medical Interpreter at LanDo and Associates until 2017. Following that, they worked as a Medical Interpreter at Language World Services, Inc. from 2017 to 2020. In 2020, Carmen joined Alameda Health System as a Staff Medical Interpreter and also worked as a Medical Interpreter elsewhere during the same year.

Carmen Melendez-Lugo, CHI™ obtained their Bachelor's degree in Latin American History from the Universidad de Puerto Rico from 1980 to 1985. Carmen then pursued a Teaching Credential in Bilingual, Multilingual, and Multicultural Education from San Francisco State University, graduating in 2000. In 2016 and 2017, they attended the Medical Interpreting Training School, earning a Certificate in Medical Interpreting.
