Chief Medical Information Officer at Alameda Health System

David English has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. David began their career in 1990 at NorthBay Healthcare as an Emergency Physician, a role they held until 2009. In the same year, they joined Alameda Health System, initially serving as the Co-chair of the Ethics Committee. In 2016, David became the Chief Medical Information Officer at Alameda Health System, a position they currently hold. Besides these roles, they have been actively involved in the Alameda-Contra Costa POLST Coalition as the Chair from 2011 to 2018. Additionally, from 2011 to 2016, they worked as an Emergency Physician/Informatician at OakCare Medical Group, Inc. Overall, David's work experience encompasses clinical practice, medical ethics, and medical informatics.

David English completed their MD degree at the University of Michigan Medical School from 1979 to 1984. David then pursued a residency in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine from 1984 to 1987. Following that, they completed a residency in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Highland Hospital from 1987 to 1990. Later, from 2007 to 2013, they obtained a Master's degree in Biomedical Informatics from the Health and Science jobs institution. In terms of certifications, they achieved Diplomate status in Clinical Informatics from the American Board of Preventive Medicine in December 2013. Additionally, they obtained Diplomate status in Emergency Medicine from the American Board of Emergency Medicine in November 1991, and in Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine in September 1987.
