Matthew Read

Matthew Read is a highly accomplished medical professional with extensive experience in surgical practice and medical leadership. Currently serving as the Chief Medical Information Officer and Upper GI Surgeon at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne since February 2019, Matthew has also taken on roles such as Co-Scientific Convenor for the 2027 RACS Annual Scientific Congress and Chair of the Surgical Research Society. In addition to these roles, Matthew holds various leadership positions including Chief Medical Officer and Non-Executive Director at Wilhelm Integrated Solutions and Chief Medical Officer at VAIM Technology, among others. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Surgery from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Monash University. Matthew is also active in various organizations, including the Daylight Foundation and the HOPE Fund, focusing on advancements in healthcare and surgical research.
