Sandra Big Shield

Sandra Big Shield has a diverse range of work experience spanning over a decade. Sandra started their career as a Payroll and Bookkeeper at Curnow's Tax Service in 2008, where they handled payroll calculations, child support and garnishments, and bookkeeping using Quickbooks. Sandra then moved on to Cook Inlet Region, Inc. as a Human Resources Assistant in 2009, where they were responsible for entering new hire and terminated employees into the Lawson database and maintaining employee files. Sandra also tracked missing paperwork for seasonal hires.

In 2009, Sandra became a Head Start Teacher at Cook Inlet Native Head Start, where they worked until 2012. Following this, they joined NANA Management Services as a Front Desk Agent from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, they had an internship at Southcentral Foundation and later worked as a Temporary Administrative Assistant at Alaska Executive Search.

In 2016, Sandra joined Southcentral Foundation again, this time as a Health Benefits Specialist. Sandra then moved on to Chugach Alaska Corporation as a Payroll Technician from 2016 to 2017. Sandra'smost recent roles include Contract Payroll Specialist and Senior Payroll Specialist at Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC), where they have been employed since 2018.

Sandra Big Shield attended Alaska Career College from 2014 to 2015, where they pursued an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) degree in Business Technology & Accounting.
