Julia O'Malley is an accomplished editor and independent journalist with extensive experience in reporting and writing about Alaska's culture and society. Currently serving as an editor for Alaska Public Media since July 2019, Julia has also maintained a freelance career focused on print and radio projects since 2014. Previously, Julia held positions as Editor At Large at Anchorage Daily News, Professor of journalism at the University of Alaska Anchorage, and columnist and reporter for Anchorage Daily News, where contributions included coverage of life, culture, and politics in Alaska. Additional experience includes reporting for The Oregonian and Juneau Empire. Julia holds a Bachelor's degree in Women's Studies and English from Smith College.
