Phil Helm is an accomplished bassist with extensive experience in various prominent orchestras and ensembles. Currently serving as a Substitute Bassist at the New York City Ballet since 2023, Phil Helm has held significant positions such as Principal Bassist with the Albany Symphony and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, as well as Principal/Section Bassist with the New Jersey Festival Orchestra. Additionally, Phil Helm has been a Bassist at the West Point Band since 2006, contributing to the US Army's musical endeavors. With a background in education as a Double Bass Instructor at both Vassar College and SUNY New Paltz, Phil Helm's artistry and commitment to music are further demonstrated through substitute roles in productions like Lerner & Lowes Camelot and collaborations with festivals such as The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice. Phil Helm's academic credentials include studies at the Manhattan School of Music and West Texas A&M University.
