Karim Shaarbafi, PhD., PEng., is an accomplished electrical engineer with extensive experience in power system modeling and technical leadership. Currently serving as a Senior Electrical Engineer at AESO since October 2016, Karim Shaarbafi specializes in validating load flow and dynamics data, developing technical modeling guidelines for inverter-based energy sources, distributed energy resources, and FACTS devices. Previously, Karim held positions such as Supervising Electrical Engineer at Teshmont Consultants LP, HVDC Specialist at SNC-Lavalin, and Research Assistant and Lecturer at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Electrical Engineering - Power Systems from the University of Waterloo and both an M.Sc. and Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Tabriz.
