Ian Abbs

Ian Abbs, M.Sc. CRSP, is an experienced investigator currently working at the Alberta Energy Regulator since October 2021. Previously, Ian held roles with the Government of Alberta from February 2012 to October 2021, including OHS Lead Investigator and Occupational Health and Safety Officer, where investigations focused on fatalities and serious incidents. Ian also served as a Technical Advisor and a Compliance Officer, enforcing OHS regulations across various sectors. Prior experience includes positions as a Health Safety Environment Advisor at Golder and Building Products of Canada Corp., and as an Environmental and Hygiene Consultant at PHH ARC Environmental Ltd. Ian holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences from the University of Lethbridge and a Master's degree in Occupational Safety & Health/Environmental Management from Columbia Southern University. Additional qualifications include an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate and a Renewable Resource Management Diploma, among others.
