Matthew McGrath, CPA, CA has a diverse work experience in finance and investment. Matthew currently serves as the Director of Investments at Alberta Enterprise Corporation (AEC), where they play a key role in building a local venture capital industry in Alberta. Their responsibilities include investing in technology venture capital funds and supporting the growth of knowledge-based companies in the province.

Prior to joining AEC, Matthew worked at Vancity as a Senior Impact Investment Manager from July 2018 to April 2022. In this role, they focused on impact investing and managed investment projects with a financial component. Before that, they worked as a Senior Consultant Financial Projects at Vancity from November 2015 to July 2018.

Matthew's earlier experience includes working at PwC, where they held various positions over a span of six years. Matthew started their career at PwC as a Manager in the Audit & Assurance Group from January 2009 to September 2013. Matthew then transitioned into the role of Senior Associate in the same group, where they worked from October 2013 to September 2015.

Matthew McGrath, CPA, CA completed their Bachelor of Management in Accounting at The University of Lethbridge from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting from NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) between 2004 and 2006. In 2009 to 2011, they attended the CA School of Business.

Matthew also holds additional certifications. Matthew obtained the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in July 2015 after being admitted as a Chartered Accountant (CA) by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2012. Additionally, in 2021 and 2022, they completed the ILPA Institute courses: "Theory & Concepts of Private Equity" and "Legal Documents" respectively, which were offered by the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA).
