Andy McGirr

Andy McGirr is the Director at Alberta IoT. Prior to this, they were the Manager of Antennas and Propagation at NovAtel Communications Ltd. from August 1987 to June 1992. Andy was responsible for a group of 10 engineers and oversaw the development of handheld phones, GPS, cellular antennas and antenna tests, and cellular modems. Before NovAtel, McGirr worked at Bell Northern Research as a Member of Scientific Staff from January 1983 to August 1987. There, they designed a T1 transceiver chip and did research in the indoor wireless group.

Andy McGirr holds a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University.
