Omid Atabati, PhD, is an accomplished economist and data scientist with extensive experience in both academia and industry. Currently serving as an Economist in Data Science at the Alberta Securities Commission since August 2022, Omid applies economic thinking to analyze and inform policy development in capital markets. Concurrently, Omid lectures on Economics at Mount Royal University, specializing in microeconomics and macroeconomics. Previously, as Manager of Data Science and Senior Social Data Scientist at HelpSeeker Technologies, Omid led a team in addressing data challenges through innovative solutions. Omid's academic background includes research and instructional roles at the University of Calgary and Brock University, culminating in a PhD in Economics from the University of Calgary, alongside a Master's in Mathematics and a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.
