Ji Hyun Kim serves as the Director of Orchestra & String Studies and Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola at Albion College since August 2021. Kim founded and continues to lead the ConTempus Initiative, an ensemble, from May 2014. At the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, involvement as Associate Concertmaster/Principal Violin and Artist-Teacher in Residence since September 2009 includes teaching private lessons, coaching youth orchestras, and coordinating violin group classes in county public schools. Kim held the position of Assistant Concertmaster (Acting) and Section Violinist with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra from September 2005 until March 2023 and served as Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola and Director of String Orchestra at Spring Arbor University from September 2009 to August 2021. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Musical Arts and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Michigan State University, as well as a Bachelor of Music (Hons.) in Violin Performance from the University of Sydney.
