Carl Lemp has extensive work experience in various organizations and roles. Carl started their career at Sears Canada in 1989 as a Governance Architect and Solution Architect, where they worked until 2007. Carl then joined the Government of the Northwest Territories as the Chief Security Officer from 2007 to 2010. After that, they worked at eHealth Ontario as a Privacy and Security Architect from 2010 to 2014. Carl then joined the Electrical Safety Authority as the Security and Governance Manager from 2014 to 2021. Their most recent role is as the Director of Cybersecurity at The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, which they started in May 2021. Carl is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer in the same organization.

Carl Lemp has a diverse education history. Carl completed their Bachelor of Mathematics degree at the University of Waterloo from 1988 to 2002. During this time, the field of study is not specified. Later, from 2011 to 2013, they pursued an eMBA at the University of Fredericton, specializing in Global Leadership and Strategy.

In addition to their formal education, Carl Lemp has obtained several certifications. In 2005, they earned the CISSP (Certified Information System Security Professional) certification from (ISC)2. In 2006, they obtained the CISA (Certified Information System Auditor) certification from ISACA. In 2008, they achieved the CGEIT (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT) certification, also from ISACA. In 2009, they acquired the CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional) certification from (ISC)2. The most recent certifications include the CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information System Control) certification obtained in 2011 and the Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer certification earned in 2020, both from ISACA.
