Alexander Hamilton Scholars
Jian Tan is an accomplished individual with a diverse background in leadership, music, and research. Currently serving as an Alexander Hamilton Scholar at Alexander Hamilton Scholars since April 2022, Jian participates in a college support program focused on empowering underserved young leaders through mentorship and networking, along with attending workshops and town hall meetings. As the Principal Cellist for the Metropolitan Youth Symphony from March 2022 to June 2023, Jian led the cello section and contributed to community concerts while supporting young composers. Jian also gained research experience as a Student Research Intern at Oregon Health & Science University, where analytical skills were applied to scientific journals and a research proposal was crafted on potassium channels and hyperinsulinism. Jian Tan holds a Bachelor's degree in Ethics, Politics, and Economics from Yale University and graduated from David Douglas High School in 2023.
