Gert Læssøe Mikkelsen has worked in a variety of roles since 1996. Gert began their career with an IT related apprenticeship at Bang & Olufsen. In 2002, they became a Programmer at SP Teknik. From 2007 to 2011, they were a PhD student in cryptography at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Aarhus. In 2009, they completed an internship at IBM Research Zurich. From 2011 to 2016, they were Head of Security Lab and Research and Innovation Specialist at Alexandra Instituttet, where they worked on the EU research project ABC4Trust. In 2016, they became a Board Member at Rådet for Digital Sikkerhed and an Ekspertreferencegruppe omkring EU's generelle databeskyttelsesforordning at Justitsministeriet/Ministry of Justice.
Gert Læssøe Mikkelsen began their education in 2001 at the Engineering College of Aarhus, where they received a high school alike education. Gert then obtained a cand.scient (Masters degree) in Computer Science from Aarhus University in 2009, followed by a PhD in Computer Science from the same university in 2011. Gert also attended EUC Syd, although the exact details of their experience there are unknown.
