Wei Shao

Wei Shao, Ph.D., currently serves as Associate Director of Strategy and Business Development at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since June 2022. Prior experience includes a role as Vice President at Octagon Capital Advisors from 2018 to 2022, focusing on public and private equity investments in biotech companies across various therapeutic areas. Wei also completed graduate research fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medicine, while co-founding the Alumni Career Talk Series. Additional experience includes serving as an Institutional Representative for INet NYC, consulting for The Solution Lab, Inc., and participating in a business fundamentals course for entrepreneurial scientists. Wei holds a PhD in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Molecular Biology from Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University, an MSc in Cell and Systems Biology from the University of Toronto, and a BSc in Molecular Biotechnology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
