Bajis Dodin

Interim Dean, College of Business at Alfaisal University

Dr. Bajis Dodin currently serves as Interim Dean of the College of Business at Alfaisal University. He has also been a Professor of Operations Management and Management Science at the University since 2013. He is passionate about creating opportunities and bringing growth to the College and enable graduates to help shape the changing environment of the country. He feels immensely proud to be a part of this prestigious Institute and is interested in strengthening and broadening Alfaisal’s partnerships with many private and public organizations both locally and internationally. He is also the Chair of Recruiting Committee, Member of MBA Committee, Undergraduate Business Administration Committee and Research Committee (2013 – present) at Alfaisal University.

Dr. Bajis Dodin has been the Head of Corporate Governance Center (2017 – present) which aims to provide a vehicle to assure sustainability and security for investors and for corporate social responsibility. Under Dr. Dodin’s leadership, the College of Business partnered with Saudi Arabia General Investment Authority (SAGIA) on a project aimed at increasing the society awareness of Corporate Governance and its value for the economy. Prior to joining Alfaisal University, Dr. Bajis Dodin has had a versatile professional background. He has served as Professor of Operations Management and Management Science at the University of California (1996 – 2013) where he was also the Associate Dean of Undergraduate programs (2007 – 10). During his tenure at UCR he has provided his professional services as the Director of University of California Education Abroad Centre (UCEAP) in Cairo (2003 – 06), Manager of AACSB Accreditation Project (2002 – 03), Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (1996 – 99), Fulbright Scholar (1993 – 94) and Chair of Undergraduate Business Administration Program (1987 – 91). He has also worked as Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin (1981 – 84) and Senior Systems Engineer (1974 – 78)at Pullman Standard, Chicago, USA.

Dr. Bajis has conducted massive research in areas relating to Project Management such as, Scheduling and Inventory Control. He has numerous publications, work papers and professional presentations under his name. He is currently involved in research work on “TOPS: Totally Optimized Project Systems”, “Project Compression in Stochastic Activity Networks” and “Heuristic Search in Steel Ingot Processing”. He has extensive administrative and business experiences that cover a wide range of higher education managerial and academic issues. He has been bestowed with multiple awards and grants over the course of his career.

Dr. Bajis Dodin received his PH.D from North Carolina State University at Raleigh, NC, USA in 1982 from where he has also received his double Masters in Production Management & Operations Research (1972 – 74). He did his Bachelor’s in Mathematics from State University of New York, USA in 1971.

To support the Kingdom’s vision 2030 and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s economy, Alfaisal University, under the guidance of Dr. Bajis held its first Corporate Governance Conference at the University premises in December 2019.
