Cristina Godio has a wealth of experience in the field of biochemistry. Cristina began their career in 2003 when they obtained their PhD in Biocehmistry from the University of Milan. During their PhD they identified new chemical activators of Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor γ (PPARγ) and studied the molecular mechanisms that underlie negative regulation of bile acids on the cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) gene. In 2006, they were a short-term scholar at The Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF). From 2008-2010, they were a postdoctoral fellow at San Raffaele Biomedical Science Park, where they developed a project on Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD). From 2010-2018, they were a Research Associate at The Scripps Research Institute, where they identified and characterized new regulators of adipogenesis and lipid metabolism. Since 2021, they have been working at ALGENEX S.L. as Head of Quality Control and a Quality Control Technician.
