In January 2007, Chris Cope joined the Allen Tate Family of Companies as president of Allen Tate Mortgage Services. With more than 12 years in the mortgage services industry, Chris brings knowledge and experience that will strengthen and elevate Allen Tate Mortgage within the company and across the Carolinas.

After graduating from the University of Florida in 1992, Chris began his career as a financial consultant for Merrill Lynch in Clearwater, Fla. After four years with Merrill Lynch, he joined what was Burnet Financial Group, now a part of Coldwell Banker and NRT, and worked for one of the most successful in-house mortgage companies, Burnet Home Loans, for a year.

After being recruited for a period of time, Chris joined Sunbelt Lending Services, formerly known as Arvida Mortgage Services, formerly known as Preferred Florida Mortgages, in June 1996. During that time he oversaw Sunbelt Lending Services’ conversion from a mortgage broker to a mortgage banker. As a result, the company grew from 18 employees to 95 employees, and from 1,400 closed loans to more than 4,200 closed loans in 2005.

Chris continues this drive for excellence as he leads an in-house operations team and more than 20 mortgage consultants located throughout the Charlotte, South Carolina, Triad, Triangle, and Upstate regions.
