Alliance for Children's Rights
Jolene Konnersman is an accomplished attorney with extensive experience in immigration and employment law. Currently serving as an Immigration Attorney at the International Institute of Los Angeles since January 2023, Jolene also holds the position of Secretary on the Board of Directors for We Are Up. Jolene has been a Volunteer Attorney with the Alliance for Children's Rights since 2005, representing caregivers and adoptive parents in the Los Angeles foster care system. Previous roles include Volunteer Attorney with the Los Angeles County Bar Association and Contract Attorney focusing on family-based immigration at the Law Office of M. Ali Parvand. Jolene has a rich background in employment law, having worked as a Partner at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp and as an Associate at Greenberg Glusker, achieving significant litigation successes in harassment and discrimination cases. Jolene earned a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law in 2001 and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from UC Santa Barbara in 1998.
Alliance for Children's Rights
The Alliance for Children’s Rights is a nonprofit legal services organization that protects the rights of impoverished, abused and neglected children in Los Angeles County. We advocate for healthcare, education and financial support for families created by adoption, foster care and guardianship. We also address the needs of foster youth leaving care without a permanent family. Whenever possible, we remedy system wide issues through policy reform. Our clients include children in foster care, runaway and emancipating youth, and relative and non-relative caregivers. With the help of pro bono attorneys, we have assisted 125,000 families to achieve safe, stable homes, healthcare and the education children need to succeed in school and in life.
