Shamir Karkal is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the financial technology sector. Currently serving as a Board Member at AIR - Alliance for Innovative Regulation and co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Sila, Shamir has held significant roles at notable companies such as Mighty, CGAP, BBVA, and Simple Finance, where contributions included pioneering the development of Open APIs and redesigning retail banking experiences. Shamir’s early career included positions at McKinsey & Company, UBS Securities, Mphasis, and Intelligent Software Solutions, where analytical and technical skills were developed. Academically, Shamir holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Carnegie Mellon University, an MPIT in Information Technology from SCIT, and a B.Sc. in Physics and Computer Science from Bangalore University.
