Tim Hunter

Tim Hunter, CFA, FRM has over 24 years of experience in portfolio management and investment strategy.

Tim currently holds the position of Vice President, Portfolio Management at Allianz Life since May 2021.

Prior to that, Tim worked as the VP, UK Portfolio Management at Enstar Group from 2018 to 2021. In this role, they led a team in managing multi-currency fixed income, equities, and alternatives for insurance portfolios, focusing on ALM, return objectives, risk management, and risk-based capital efficiency.

From 2017 to 2018, Tim served as the Senior Portfolio Manager at The Standard, leading the corporate bond portfolio management and trading desk activities. Tim was responsible for trading, credit analysis, and monitoring.

Before joining The Standard, Tim worked at Reinsurance Group of America as the VP, Head of Asia Pacific Portfolio Management from 2012 to 2016. In this position, they managed a team of investment professionals and developed investment strategies for assets matched to reinsurance liabilities in the Asia Pacific segment.

Tim's earlier experience includes a role as Vice President, Investments at Scottish Re from 2003 to 2012, where they oversaw a $12 billion fixed income portfolio and managed investment department activities.

Tim began their career at Bermuda Investment Advisory Services Limited as a Portfolio Manager, responsible for fixed income and equity research, credit analysis, portfolio management, and business development.

Overall, Tim Hunter has a diverse range of experience in portfolio management, asset allocation, credit analysis, and risk management in various financial institutions throughout their career.

Tim Hunter, CFA, FRM holds a B.Sc. degree from the University of Calgary, which they earned between 1989 and 1993. Tim later completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program at the CFA Institute in 2000. From 2001 to 2003, they pursued a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Additionally, in 2007 and 2008, Tim enrolled in Duke University's Fuqua School of Business for a Global Executive MBA degree.
