Charles P. Gerba

Dr. Gerba is a professor in the Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science at the University of Arizona. He conducts research on the transmission of pathogens through the environment. His recent research encompasses the transmission of pathogens by water, food and fomites (surface contamination); fate of pathogens in land-applied wastes; development of new disinfectants; domestic microbiology; and microbial risk assessment. He is the author of more than 500 articles and several books on environmental microbiology, risk assessment and pollution science. Dr. Gerba is a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the International Water Association.
