Ray Sambrotto

President & Chief Science Officer at Allied Microbiota

Ray Sambrotto has been working in the field of oceanography and aquatic science since 1990, when they began as a Lamont Professor at Columbia University. During this time, they conducted research and published extensively in the field, as well as developing and applying new technologies for pollution control and biofuel production. In 2019, they joined Allied Microbiota as President & Chief Science Officer, where they apply decades of experience in biogeochemical processes to the commercial realm, addressing problems in the remediation of land, water and air using the diversity of earth's microbes and biotechnology.

Ray Sambrotto began their educational journey in 1965 when they attended Canisius H.S. Ray then went on to the University at Buffalo, where they earned a B.S. in Biology between 1970 and 1973. In 1978, they began their Ph.D. in Oceanography at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, which they completed in 1983.
