Research Development Team Leader at Allonnia

Areen Banerjee has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2004 as a Research Associate at SPARC in Mumbai. In 2005, they moved to Cognizant Technology Solutions as a Clinical Data Manager, curating and managing databases for phase II and III clinical trials. In 2012, they took a Post-doctoral Researcher position at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they were responsible for metabolic engineering of Clostridium ljungdahlii. In 2014, they moved to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Postdoctoral Associate, where they worked on bioelectronic measurement and electronic feedback control of molecules in living cells. In 2016, they moved to Dartmouth College as a Research Associate B (Postdoctoral Research Associate), where they worked on analog/mixed signal synthetic microbial circuit design. In 2018, they joined GreenLight Biosciences, Inc. as a Scientist 1, where they developed and executed a screening study to identify bacterial strains for improved plasmid yield. Areen then moved to Scientist 2, leading a team of four researchers responsible for plasmid design, construction, and production for the pre-clinical pipeline. Finally, in 2022 they joined Allonnia as a Research Development Team Leader and Technical Project Manager-Synthetic Biology.

Areen Banerjee began their educational journey in 1998 when they attended AG Church School, graduating with a High School degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General in 2000. Areen then went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, General from the University of Mumbai in 2003. Areen continued their studies at the University of Mumbai and earned a Master's degree in Biotechnology in 2005. Finally, Areen Banerjee completed their education in 2012 when they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Microbiology, General from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In addition, Areen Banerjee obtained a certification in Venus Software Training 1 from the Hamilton Company in September 2019.
