Cherie Fathy

Cherie Fathy, MD, MPH, is an experienced medical professional serving as the Director of Clinical Research at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals since June 2025. Prior to this role, Fathy worked as an Ophthalmologist and Medical Officer at the FDA from July 2023 to June 2025, where responsibilities included clinical review of cell and gene therapy trials and co-leading recruitment initiatives. Fathy completed a cornea fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and an ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital. Previous experience includes a transitional year internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and co-founding Dunia Health, focusing on mHealth services in refugee clinics. Fathy obtained a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health from Vanderbilt University and has also contributed to HuffPost as a writer.
