Joseph Barry, PhD, is an accomplished professional in the field of data sciences and computational biology, currently serving as Associate Director at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals since July 2017. In this role, Joseph develops algorithms for predicting siRNA specificity and manages a team of data scientists and bioinformaticians focused on enhancing RNAi therapeutics. Prior experience includes a position as Research Fellow at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute from July 2015 to May 2017, where research integrated quantitative image features with genomic data, as well as a postdoctoral appointment at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health during the same period. Earlier roles include research at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, where Joseph worked on multi-omics and statistical computing, and graduate research at Trinity College Dublin, specializing in the structural and rheological properties of liquid foams. Joseph holds a Ph.D. in Computational Physics from Trinity College Dublin and a Bachelor's Degree in Theoretical Physics & Mathematics from Maynooth University.
