Hitoshi Harada

Hitoshi Harada is the Co-Founder and CTO at Alpaca. Hitoshi was previously with Pivotal Inc. from November 2013 to December 2015 as Database Kernel Architect. At Pivotal, they were responsible for the architecture of their distributed relational database and making their data fabric products such as hadoop, in-memory database and message queue etc. generate synergy with the database to achieve the company's mission towards the new generation of computing. From April 2013 to October 2013, they were a Principal Software Engineer at Pivotal and continued working on Greenplum Database as well as HAWQ engine. While mainly focused on storage and transaction management area, they coordinated people from different team and gave technical solutions in order to overcome product challenges of which nobody knew the solution in this monster, from query processing to cluster management to catalog metadata. Prior to their work at Pivotal, they were a Principal Software Engineer at Greenplum / EMC from July 2011 to March 2013. Hitoshi was also a Contributor with the PostgreSQL Global Development Group from March 2008 to December 2015. From February 2006 to June 2011, they were the CTO at FORCIA, Inc.

Hitoshi Harada studied computer science at Keio University before dropping out to join Y Combinator, a startup accelerator.

A direct report to Hitoshi Harada is and Raja Bhatia - VP, Engineering. They are on a team with Kohta Wajima - VP, Growth, Andy Chen - VP, Finance, and David Lisko - VP, Sales Training Development & Recruiting. Hitoshi Harada reports to Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-Founder & CEO.
