Alexandra Alvarsson, PhD has a diverse and extensive work experience. Alexandra began their career in 2006 as an Internship, Growth and Metabolism at Karolinska Institutet. Alexandra then worked as a Research Assistant at the same institution in 2007 and 2008. During their time there, they also completed an Internship in Proteomics in 2008. In 2009, they began their PhD studies at Karolinska Institutet, focusing on Neuronal Mechanisms Underlying Non-Motor Dysfunctions in Parkinson's Disease, with an emphasis on cognitive disturbances. In 2015, they became a Senior Scientist at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where they worked on characterizing brain circuits involved in feeding and metabolism using viral circuit tracing, viral TRAP for molecular profiling, and a battery of behavioral methods and hormone assays. In 2022, they began their current role as Lead Scientist at Alpenglow Biosciences.

Alexandra Alvarsson, PhD obtained their Master of Science in Biomedicine from Karolinska Institutet in 2005-2009. Alexandra then completed a Research Preparatory Course at Karolinska Institutet in 2009-2010. In 2010-2011, they attended Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) for Neurology, Behavior. Alexandra also attended University of Kentucky for Neurology in 2010. Alexandra Alvarsson, PhD completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Medical Science at Karolinska Institutet in 2010-2015.
